Accreditation / Certification

The German Accreditation Office (Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH - DAKKS) started operating on January 1st., 2010. Germany fulfills herewith the EU requirements for the installation of only one national accreditation office. The objective is also to simplify the quality infrastructure and to strengthen the confidence in the quality of German products and services. The German Federal Ministry for Economical and Technological Affairs BMWi has assumed the technical, legal and financial surveillance of the DAKKS.

According to the item 4, paragraph 1 of the EG regulation Nr. 765/2008, all state members of the EU shall assign only one accreditation office. The DAKKS was founded following this requirement.

The German Law for the Accreditation Office dated august 7th. 2009 (Gesetz über die Akkreditierungsstelle AkkStelleG) was the general framework for the DAKKS. The accreditations shall be carried out by the DAKKS according to this law,
based on the EG regulation Nr. 765/2008.
